Second Wind helps lung tranplantees
in many ways.
Support
There are many needs that extend far beyond medical needs that some have who go through such an invasive procedure. We provide support aimed at helping those waiting for lung transplants and their families. Sometimes there is a need for assistance with emotional coping, as well coping with the reality of the patient’s disease, while waiting for lung transplant and the actual process of lung transplantation.
Advocacy
We pursue the Association’s mission through advocacy aimed at raising organ donation and lung transplant awareness through programs and information; raising awareness and support for vital issues that will advance the care and treatment of those waiting for transplantation.
Education
We pursue the Association’s mission through education aimed at providing a central, timely source of information related to organ donation, pre lung transplant issues, transplantation and living healthy after transplant.
Information
We pursue the Association’s mission through the collection, dissemination, and exchange of information aimed at empowering lung transplant patients and their families to take positive steps to keeping their new organs healthy.
Guidance
We pursue the Association’s mission through providing guidance aimed at directing transplant patients and their families to quality printed resources, programs and services that ensure the family stays happy and healthy and seeks help when they need it.
The St. Louis Chapter has been in existence since January 10, 1996. We actively pursue the Chapter’s mission through various programs, activities and events.
